The Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield Spider-Man flicks are swinging toward Ultra HD Blu-ray in new Digibook collections.
In an early announcement to retailers, Sony is preparing a Spider-Man Limited Edition Collection and Amazing Spider-Man Limited Edition Collection for 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray on October 17. In addition, a Best Buy Exclusive Spider-Man Legacy Collection SteelBook with all five films will be released that same day as well.
The Spider-Man Limited Edition Collection features the original trilogy of Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man 3, all directed by Sam Raimi and starring Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man and Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane. In this seven-disc set, Spider-Man battles such classic villains as Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe), Doc Ock (Alfred Molina), Sandman (Thomas Haden Church), Venom (Topher Grace) and New Goblin (James Franco). Packaged in a limited edition collectible 36-page Digibook featuring photos and behind-the-scenes detail.
All three films will feature 2160p video with HDR and Dolby Atmos soundtracks. Supplements on the Blu-ray discs will include:
- Spider-Man 3: Editor's Cut – an alternate version of the 2007 blockbuster, supervised by Academy Award-winning original editor Bob Murawski
- Spider-Man 2.1 – the action-packed extended version of Spider-Man 2, featuring eight minutes of additional footage
- The Stan Lee Legacy: From Comic Book to Homecoming – icon Stan Lee looks back at the history of Spider-Man and the character's cinematic adventures
- Over 30 hours of archival special features, including commentaries, behind-the-scenes featurettes, gag reels, webisodes, music videos and much more!
The Amazing Spider-Man Limited Edition Collection includes The Amazing Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man 2, both directed by Marc Webb and starring Andrew Garfield in the title role with Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy. In this five-disc set, Spider-Man (Garfield) battles such fan favorite villains as The Lizard (Rhys Ifans), Electro (Jamie Foxx) and Green Goblin (Dane DeHaan). Packaged in a limited edition collectible 24-page Digibook featuring photos and behind-the-scenes detail.
Both films will feature 2160p video with HDR and Dolby Atmos soundtracks. Supplements on the Blu-ray discs will include:
- The Stan Lee Legacy: From Comic Book to Homecoming – icon Stan Lee looks back at the history of Spider-Man and the character's cinematic adventures
- Over 15 Rare Archival Featurettes
- Nearly 10 hours of additional archival special features, including commentaries, behind-the-scenes featurettes, deleted scenes, music videos and much more!
