The upcoming speaker will be available in November.
Sonos has announced a release date for its new flagship speaker model. The new PLAY:5 will start shipping on November 20 for $499.
The speaker features six synchronized, custom-designed drivers with three mid-woofers and three tweeters. In addition, the PLAY:5 supports three orientations, allowing the device to be placed horizontally as a standalone speaker, vertically in a stereo pair with another unit, or horizontally in a stereo pair with another unit. Likewise, the intuitive design includes touch controls for play, pause, volume and music track adjustments. The PLAY:5 can also work with other Sonos speaker models and can even be used as rear speakers for a surround sound system with the Sonos Sub ($699) and Playbar ($699). Finally, the Sonos app includes support for a variety of music services like Pandora, Spotify, TIDAL, Google Play Music, and SoundCloud.
The Sonos PLAY:5 ($499) is now available for pre-order from the Sonos store. Meanwhile, the Play:1 ($199) and Play:3 ($299) are both available now.
