The premium streaming platform will arrive next month.
Showtime has officially announced pricing and availability for its upcoming standalone streaming service. The app will first arrive on Apple devices on July 12 for $11 per month.
The Showtime standalone OTT platform will allow users to subscribe to Showtime streaming without the need for a cable or satellite contract, giving cord-cutting customers access to live content and all of the network's popular movies and shows, including 'Homeland,' 'Masters of Sex,' 'Shameless,' and 'Penny Dreadful.' Initially, the service will launch on Apple devices like the iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Apple TV. Likewise, those who sign up through Apple will also be able to watch the service through the internet. The platform is now poised to compete with HBO's standalone service, HBO Now, which currently costs $15 per month.
Though the app will first arrive on Apple products, Showtime streaming support for more devices is expected to be announced in the near future. New customers will also be given a 30-day free trial when the service launches.
