Samsung Announces March 2016 Release Date for First Ultra HD Blu-ray Player, Amazon Pre-Orders Now Live at $399

A release date and price have finally been announced.  

Samsung has revealed new details for its UBD-K8500 Ultra HD Blu-ray. The player is set for a March 2016 release in the US and pre-orders are now live!

The UBD-K8500 is HDR compatible and features four times the resolution and 64 times detailed color expression of a traditional Blu-ray player. Likewise, the device offers a sleek, curved design and includes upscaling capabilities. In addition, Samsung has partnered with Hollywood Studios like 20th Century Fox to bring Ultra HD Blu-rays to the market. Fox plans to release over 100 Ultra HD Blu-rays with HDR in 2016, including 'The Martian.' 

The UBD-K8500 is currently available for a pre-order price of $399.99. The suggested retail price is $499.99.
