Two new Roku products have been unvealed.
Roku has detailed two new audio devices, the Onn Sound Bar and the Onn Subwoofer. Both models will be Walmart exclusives and are designed to serve as more affordable versions of the company's other recently announced Sound Bar and Subwoofer models.
"We know our customers shop with us for quality products at an affordable price," says Ryan Peterson, vice president of consumer electronics for Walmart. "We're thrilled to be working with Roku to deliver a new category of audio and streaming products in time for the holiday season that are easy to use and come at an incredible value."
The Roku Onn Sound Bar is designed to act as an external TV speaker and media player in one device. The unit is powered by the Roku OS with access to more than 500,000 movies and TV episodes, along with support for 4K and HDR10 streaming through compatible apps. When it comes to audio, the sound bar supports Dolby playback with HDMI ARC and optical connections, along with Bluetooth and Roku Connect wireless capabilities. Unlike the company's step-up sound bar model, however, the Onn only includes a standard remote without voice control.
And for users who want to add more bass to their system, the optional Onn Wireless Subwoofer is designed to easily pair with the Onn Sound Bar. The subwoofer is rated for 150W peak power (the step-up subwoofer model is rated for 250W).
"The onn Roku Smart Soundbar gives consumers an easy way to add better sound instantly to nearly any TV, plus with a 4K Roku streaming player built in, it provides easy access to tons of great movies, TV and music entertainment. And, since some people want even more bass, we've created the onn Roku Wireless Subwoofer as an option – for now or later," said Mark Ely, Vice President of Players and Whole Home Product Management at Roku. "Roku and Walmart have worked together for years to enhance the entertainment experience for millions of people who have purchased Roku TV models and Roku streaming players. Now, we’re looking forward to getting these new audio products on shelves to provide consumers with better sound for their TV experience at a great price."
The Roku Onn Sound Bar ($129) and the Roku Onn Subwoofer ($129) will be available in the coming weeks via Walmart stores and Walmart.com. Meanwhile, the step-up Roku Smart Sound Bar ($179) and Roku Wireless Subwoofer ($179) are set to start shipping on October 13 via Roku.com.
