Credit good towards digital games, movies, etc.
Sony has announced a "threefold surprise" for next week's PS4 owners. Each PS4 box in the US and Canada will include a voucher good for three things, a 30 day free PlayStation+ membership trial, a 30 day free Music Unlimited service trial, and a #10 Sony Network Entertainment wallet credit for the PlayStation Store.
From Sony, "Out of the box, you can immediately experience everything PlayStation Plus for PS4 has to offer and have access to millions and millions of songs through Music Unlimited. The $10 credit can be used towards anything in the store including new PS4 launch titles, such as Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag, Battlefield 4, Call of Duty Ghosts, and Killzone Shadow Fall.
"Look for the voucher when you open your PS4 box and let us know what you’re excited about playing, listening, or watching by using #PS4 on Twitter."
PS Plus is a requirement for gaming online, and will net the user two free games at launch, 'Resogun,' and 'Contrast.' Those games will be lost though, if the PS Plus membership lapses. Meanwhile, Sony has omitted audio CD and MP3 support for the PS4, seemingly hoping that Music Unlimited lands a horde of new users. Finally, $10 of credit can be used for smaller PSN games, full-scale titles, and even the $10 upgrade fee for PS3 versions of 'Battlefield 4,' 'Call of Duty: Ghosts,' and 'Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag.'
The voucher inclusion is being described as "available for a limited time," which suggests at least the 2013 launch wave of PS4s.
