Putting a horrific spin on the reality TV genre, the indie chiller 'Naked Beneath the Water' will make its direct-to-video bow on HD DVD this February.
Echoing such genre favorites as 'Series 7' with its mix of post-modern scares and pop culture satire, 'Naked Beneath the Water' will make its HD DVD debut on February 5, day-and-date with the standard DVD.
'Naked Beneath the Water' marks the second announced high-def release from indie distributor Phoenix Entertainment following another direct-to-video thriller, 'The Lawless' (which the company is also streeting on February 5).
In an aggressive high-def push for an indie, Phoenix says it intends to release all of its future titles on both standard DVD and HD DVD (the distributor tells us it has no current plans to support Blu-ray).
Confirmed specs for 'Naked Beneath the Water' include 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 video. Audio details are not yet announced, but we'll keep you posted.
Supplements shared between the standard DVD and the HD DVD include a director's commentary, a behind the scenes "The Big Explosion" documentary, trailer, bloopers and an Easter Egg featuring an alternate ending. Exclusive to the HD DVD will be a collection of deleted & extended scenes.
Phoenix has set a suggested $24.95 list price for the HD DVD.
