The new digital audio player is now available for purchase.
Onkyo has announced the release of its latest audio product. The DP-X1 is a Hi-Res Digital Audio Player with MQA support (via a free update tomorrow, April 12).
"We are very excited to launch MQA on the Onkyo DP-X1. The MQA sound on the portable player is truly breathtaking. With more MQA music in the market very soon, Onkyo customers will be amongst the first to truly experience the wonders of MQA. It's an exciting time for MQA partners and music lovers everywhere," said Bob Stuart, MQA's creator.
The DP-X1 Digital Audio Player is based on the Android OS and offers support for several High Res Audio formats, including up to DSD 11.2MHz, 384kHz/24bit FLAC/WAV audio files. Likewise, the player will soon support the MQA format as well. MQA is a an end to end audio tech that provides authenticated master quality audio in a file that's small enough to stream or download. Under the hood, the DP-X1 was designed with "Pure Sound" in mind. To this end, to isolate sources of internal noise, the Audio circuit board and CPU board have been built on separate boards. In addition, the Audio circuit design uses ESS technology's SABRE DAC ES9018K2M and SABRE 9601K amp in a dual setup with a 2.5mm 4 pole jack for full balance output with support for normal BTL balance and Active Control GND drive. Finally, the player also provides the option to expand its storage to up to 432GB along with Google Play access.
Onkyo's DP-X1 Digital Audio Player is now available for a suggested retail price of $899. The free MQA update will be available for download tomorrow.
