It's time for a celebration up north. Netflix streaming is finally coming to Canada!
Let's take the prerequisite Canada jokes as read. We'll assume that this news article contained references to moose, wrong bacon, beer, and 80's wrestlers that still maintain their popularity north of the border.
Now that we've gotten all that out of the way, let's talk about Canada finally getting some streaming Netflix. According to the official press release, "Canadian Netflix members will be able to instantly watch a broad array of movies and TV episodes right on their TVs via a range of consumer electronics devices." Hopefully that means any device capable of streaming Netflix in the US can handle Netflix in Canada.
Since they've been waiting patiently, Canada also gets the first ever streaming-only subscription option. That means you'll get all the streaming content you want, but you won't get any discs by mail. If you're not interested in the Blu-ray option, it's not a bad way to go.
Pricing hasn't been announced for the service yet, but you can sign up at Netflix to get an email as soon as this all hits. Initially the service will launch in English, with a French option coming in the near future.
