According to NPD, 59 percent of gaming takes place on mobile devices.
The NPD Group just came out with some information on app gaming that reveals just how popular it’s gotten. More surprisingly, the market research shows that nearly a quarter of all of those that play games on mobile devices only play games on those devices.
That means that a quarter of those ‘Angry Birds’ players are using their phones for gaming and never touch a console or a PC. One of the biggest reasons, according to 35 percent of those surveyed, is that so many of the games are free. 34 percent say that portability and convenience are the main factors that determine their device of preference.
Findings also show that gamers who play on a tablet are more likely to pay for a game, or to make an in-game purchase.
