The film featuring Robert Pattinson's "career-redefining performance" (Variety) is planned for Blu-ray in September.
In an early announcement to retailers, Lionsgate says 'The Rover' is headed for Blu-ray on September 23.
The tension-filled film, which was released theatrically by A24, was an Official Selection of the 2014 Cannes Film Festival. 'The Rover', directed by visionary writer/director David Michôd ('Animal Kingdom'), also stars Scoot McNairy (TV's "Halt and Catch Fire," upcoming 'Gone Girl').
In a dangerous near-future in the Australian desert, ten years after the collapse of the western economic system, Eric (Guy Pearce) has left everything behind, but when his last possession is stolen by a gang of dangerous criminals, Eric sets off on a hunt to find them. Along the journey, he enlists the help of Rey (Robert Pattinson), a naïve and injured member of the gang, who was left behind.
The Blu-ray will feature 1080p video, a lossless 5.1 soundtrack, and supplements will include a making-of featurette.
