There's no street date yet, but filmmaker Guillermo del Toro has recently hinted that a restored special edition of his cult classic 'Cronos' will soon be headed to Blu-ray.
According to movie website Shock 'Til You Drop, del Toro confirmed that Lionsgate will soon be announcing a first-ever Blu-ray version of the 1993 sci-fi thriller. Plans are to fully remaster and restore the film, and include numerous bonus features.
"I think I want to revisit, re-time, restructure the sound for the Blu-ray experience in a big way," del Toro told the website.
When asked if all of the extras found on previous DVD editions of the film will be included, del Toro added, "We're going to do, basically, the most exhausting extras that can ever be put together. There are many editions around the world with different extras, but there is no definitive edition."
At press time Lionsgate has also not issued a press release or other media confirmation of a 'Cronos' release on Blu-ray, but as always we'll keep you updated as any official news comes in.
In the meantime, we've added a listing for 'Cronos' to the "Release Dates Pending" section of our Blu-ray Release Schedule. Stay tuned!
