The upcoming smartphone is a more compact and affordable variant of the company's flagship G3.
LG has announced a new addition to its smartphone lineup, the G3 Beat. The mid-tier 5-inch handset is designed to offer many of the same features as the premium G3 smartphone at a lower price point.
"Smartphone manufacturers cannot ignore this growing segment of consumers who want the best balance of looks, features, performance and, of course, price," said Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. "The LG G3 Beat represents our commitment to the mid-tier smartphone market that demands mature technology, proven branding, great innovation and attractive price, all in a single device."
The G3 Beat features a 5-inch IPS screen with a resolution of 1280 x 720 and 294ppi. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 1.2 GHz Quad-Core processor, 1GB of RAM, and a 2,540mAh battery running Android 4.4.2. An 8MP rear camera with Laser Auto Focus, and a 1.3MP front camera are included as well. The phone also includes 8GB of storage and a microSD slot.
Pricing has not been detailed yet, but the LG G3 Beat will launch in South Korea on July 18 and then expand globally in the coming weeks.
