LG Smart TVs can now access content from Google Play Movies & TV.
LG has announced the addition of the Google Play Movies & TV app to the company's US Smart TV lineup. With Google Play Movies & TV, LG Smart TV owners can now rent or purchase thousands of titles.
"U.S. consumers are increasingly demanding fresh, high-quality content and we’re seeing the smart TV market grow rapidly as a result," said David VanderWaal, vice president of marketing, LG Electronics USA. "Offering our consumers the best possible home entertainment experience is our highest priority and our partnership with Google to offer Google Play Movies and TV helps LG deliver more quality content options along with leading TV picture quality and a simple and fast smart TV experience powered by our webOS Smart TV platform."
Google Play Movies & TV offers a growing collection of classic films, new releases, and TV shows. Title are available to buy or rent with options in SD and HD. Likewise, the service's cloud-based streaming allows users to begin a title on their LG TV and then resume that same title on their smartphones, tablets, or PCs at a later date. In addition to the new Google Play app, LG's webOS smart TV platform also features several more streaming video options, including 4K Ultra HD support from Amazon Instant Video, Netflix, YouTube, and DIRECTV.
Google Play Movies & TV is now rolling out to LG's webOS smart TVs (as well as its earlier NetCast 4.0 and 4.5 platform) in the US with more countries to follow.
