Specs and a release window have been announced for the 10.1-inch tablet.
LG has revealed more information about its G Pad 10.1. In addition to an emphasis on multimedia and entertainment options, the Android tablet will also offer many of the same premium UX features found on the company's upcoming G3 smartphone.
"Consumers use tablets differently from smartphones and we wanted to highlight the important role of entertainment in the new LG G Pad 10.1," said Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. "Tablets are increasingly being used as companion devices, which is why we made connecting the LG G Pad 10.1 to other devices so easy and convenient and why LG G Pad 10.1 offers the best core technologies of our G series smartphones."
The tablet features a 10.1-inch 1280x800 IPS display. Under the hood, the device is powered by a 1.2GHz Quad-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU, 1GB of RAM, and an 8,000mAh battery running Android 4.4.2. A 5MP rear camera and a 1.3MP front camera are also included, along with 16GB of storage and a microSD slot. Finally, the G Pad 10.1 will also offer LG's Knock Code security feature, QPair 2.0 tech for connecting to other Android devices, and a Dual Window mode for running two apps at the same time.
An exact release date and price have not been announced yet, but the LG G Pad 10.1 will arrive in the US market later this month and then roll out globally.
