The title was intended "to instill and demonstrate emotion" using Kinect.
'Matter,' teased as an XBLA game at 2012's E3, has been cancelled by Microsoft, reports Joystiq. The title was to be built in Unreal 3 by Blind Wink, known for working on 'Rango.'
After releasing the teaser trailer for the game, Phil Spencer, Corporate VP at Microsoft Studios described Verbinski's pitch for the game in broad strokes, "To a lot of people who haven't played games for a long time, somebody standing completely stationary with a controller in their hands kind of seems emotionless, even though we know that we'll be sweating or twitching. And [it was] his feeling, that with motion and movement, that the connection of the emotion that's happening on screen and how the player feels would be more natural."
'matter' was supposed to release sometime in 2013. The possibility remains that some form of 'Matter' may eventually be released, but this current development diminishes the possibilities for any future games from Gore Verbinski and Blind Wink.
