Sharp has announced a new line of LED backlit LCDs in Japan with a feature that might prove useful to those who fall asleep in front of the TV.
I’m sure you’ve done it at least once. You try to finish that movie or catch that last TV show you’re trying to catch up on and the next thing you know, you wake up on the recliner. Falling asleep with the TV on happens to the best of us.
Sharp’s new line of LED backlit LCDs are coming out in Japan next month and they sport a feature they’re calling the Mubusensa sensor. It works a bit like a sleep timer, but instead of automatically turning off the television in a certain amount of time, it turns it off after a certain amount of activity.
With the feature enabled, when the television detects that nobody’s moved for that period of time, it shuts itself off automatically. The sensor spreads out ninety degrees to the left and right, forty degrees vertically and around three meters long. You can set the timer in increments from five minutes to thirty minutes.
