Digeo, makers of the Moxi DVR have announced, along with their summer software update, the release of the Moxi Mate, an extender for the DVR that allows multiroom capability.
The new box has a silent operation and is able to tap into services like Hulu and Netflix. Unfortunately, at this time the Moxi Mate, running $399 for new purchasers and $199 for existing Moxi owners, does not offer the streaming of live TV. Recorded video can be streamed from the base DVR, but only to one Moxi Mate at a time.
Digeo’s update to the Moxi DVR, according to CEPro, adds some much needed improvements to the service, starting with an upgrade to the user interface which will offer a more traditional view for users. Also new is the ability to upgrade hard drives to over the former cap of 500MB. The Moxi will support external storage of up to 6TB.
