Samsung Blu-ray Player Prices Leaked

Posted Feb 1, 2010 at 02:00 PM PST by Mike Attebery

Thanks to an Amazon snafu, we’ve got prices on Samsung’s new players.

Every once in a while, Amazon gives us a present. Usually it’s a foreign version of Amazon that puts a product up to early and gives us access to the information in the listing. This time however, it was our friends in Seattle.

Yesterday, a trio of Samsung’s new Blu-ray players hit Amazon. From the looks of things they were up for preorder, but an hour or so later, they were all taken down.

The BD-C5500 went up, but wasn’t priced. The BD-C6500 – featuring quick load speeds and a fifteen second boot up time – was priced at $299.99.

Samsung’s BD-7500 sat at a price of $399, which seems a bit high for the player. It’s just above an inch high and it can be mounted at a slant, but aside from that there isn’t much improvement over the 6500. And of course, anything over $200 invites a comparison to the Playstation 3.

If 3D’s your thing, the Samsung BD-C6900 is set to be one of the first players out to support full 1080p 3D playback, and for only $399. While the merits of 3D can and will be hotly debated, the price of the BD-C6900 is surprisingly reasonable, especially considering the 7500.
