The Starks will fend off the winds of winter in April.
HBO has released a new promo teaser for Game of Thrones: Season Eight, finally revealing the show's premiere date. The first episode of the series' final season will hit HBO on April 14.
Though it does not contain any new footage from the show itself, the promo features Jon (Kit Harington), Arya (Maisie Williams), and Sansa (Sophie Turner) exploring the crypts of Winterfell and passing by the tombs of deceased family members. As they near statues of Lyanna Stark, Catelyn Stark, and Ned Stark, we hear various quotes from the characters, leading the trio to their own ominous tombs.

The eighth and final season of Game of Thrones is set to consist of six episodes which will each reportedly run close to feature length. The show comes from creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, and is based on the book series written by George R.R. Martin.
Peter Dinklage, Lena Headey, Emilia Clarke, Kit Harington, Sophie Turner, Maisie Williams, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Iain Glen, Alfie Allen, John Bradley, Gwendoline Christie, Liam Cunningham, Isaac Hempstead Wright, Jerome Flynn, Nathalie Emmanuel, and Rory McCann will all reprise their roles for the final batch of episodes.
And beyond the upcoming eighth season, HBO has already greenlit a Game of Thrones prequel spin-off pilot set to take place thousands of years before the current show. The potential series comes George R. R. Martin and Jane Goldman (Kingsman, X-Men: First Class), and is set to star Naomi Watts as "a charismatic socialite hiding a dark secret."
