Universal has confirmed final specs for 'Mamma Mia! The Movie', which will come to Blu-ray this December with hours of exclusives and a first-ever custom commentary feature.
As previously reported, the runaway box office smash -- which is now the highest-grossing film in UK history and one of Universal's biggest-ever hits -- was given a December 16 street date on Blu-ray, day-and-date with the standard DVD.
Now final specs are in, with Universal presenting the film on a BD-50 dual-layer disc with 1080p/AVC MEPG-4 video and DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 Surround.
Extras shared between the Blu-ray and DVD include an audio commentary with director Phyllida Lloyd, multiple featurettes ("Anatomy of a Musical Number: 'Lay All Your Love on Me,'" "The Making of Mamma Mia!", "Becoming a Singer," "A Look Inside Mamma Mia!"), deleted scenes, outtakes and musical number ("The Name of the Game"), a musical jukebox with instant access and lyrics to all of the film's ABBA songs, a music video for "Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!" (sung by actress Amanda Seyfried), and a Bjorn Ulvaeus cameo vignette.
Exclusive to the Blu-ray are a pair of U-Control features (a picture-in-picture video commentary and "Behind the Hits" clips), and via BD-Live, My Scenes Sharing, My Chat and other downloadable content. And in a high-def first, BD-Live users can also access the "My Mamma Mia! Commentary" function, allowing fans to record and share their own audio commentaries online.
Also included on a second disc is a Digital Copy of the film (in standard-def only).
Finally, Universal has issued the final box art for 'Mamma Mia!':
As previously announced, the studio has set the suggested retail price for the Blu-ray at $39.98.
