'The Host' Blu-ray Announced and Detailed

The sci-fi thriller from the mind of Stephenie Meyer will infect Blu-ray in July.

In an early announcement to retailers, Universal has slated 'The Host' for Blu-ray on July 9.

What if everything you love was taken from you in the blink of an eye? The Host is the next epic love story from the creator of the Twilight Saga. When an unseen enemy threatens mankind, taking over human bodies and erasing their minds, Melanie Stryder (Saoirse Ronan) risks everything to protect the people she cares about most -- Jared (Irons), Ian (Abel), her brother Jamie (Canterbury) and her Uncle Jeb (William Hurt) -- proving that love can conquer all in a dangerous new world.

The Blu-ray/DVD/Ultraviolet Combo Pack will feature 1080p video, a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 soundtrack, and supplements will include: Seeker PSA: Feature Commentary with Meyer, Niccol and Producer Nick Wechsler; Bringing The Host to Life: Behind the scenes with Meyer, Ronan, Irons and Abel; and Deleted Scenes.

Suggested list price for the Blu-ray $34.98.
