The slow burning, methodical suspense thriller will pull the Blu-ray trigger just after Christmas.
In an early announcement to retailers, Universal is set to release 'The American' on the high-definition format on December 28.
The film stars George Clooney as an assassin hiding out in Italy for one last assignment.
The Blu-ray will feature 1080p video, a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 soundtrack, and supplements will include: Feature commentary with director Anton Corbijn, Journey to Redemption: the making of 'The American', Deleted scenes, and Blu-ray exclusive staples BD-Live, pocket BLU, My Scenes, and uHEAR.
Suggested list price is still undetermined at this time.
