The Man of Steel, the Guilty Remnant, and more are all coming to Blu-ray
New info has been revealed for several upcoming Blu-ray releases from Scream Factory, Warner Bros., Cinema Guild, ClassicFlix, Cohen Media Group, Lionsgate, and Blue Underground.
Here's a full rundown of recently revealed details and title announcements:
First up, Scream Factory is set to release Kevin Greutert's Jackals starring Deborah Kara Unger, Johnathon Schaech, Stephen Dorff, Nick Roux, Alyssa Julya Smith, and Chelsea Ricketts on October 3. Supplements will include:
- Audio Commentary with director Kevin Greutert and writer Jared Rivet
- Interviews with the cast and crew
- Original theatrical trailers
Warner Bros. has announced a Superman: The Movie - Extended Cut & Special Edition 2-Film Collection starring Christopher Reeve, Margot Kidder, and Gene Hackman for Blu-ray on October 3. The release will include the TV version of the film that originally aired in 1982 as a 2-night special in the US with nearly 40 minutes of extra footage not seen in the 1978 theatrical release, along with the Special Edition version of the movie with 8 minutes of extra footage specially directed by Richard Donner.
In addition, the studio is set to bring DC 4-Film Collection with Wonder Woman, Suicide Squad: Extended Cut, Man of Steel, and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Ultimate Edition to Blu-ray on October 17. Supplements will likely mirror those found on each film's individual release.
Likewise, Warner Bros. will also release a Batman / Superman Anthology on October 17. The 9-film Blu-ray collection will include Superman, Superman 2, Superman 2 Richard Donner Cut, Superman III, Superman IV The Quest For Peace, Batman, Batman Returns, Batman Forever, and Batman and Robin.
Meanwhile, outside of superhero titles, Warner has announced several additional Blu-rays for October. The lineup includes...
The Leftovers: The Third and Final Season starring Justin Theroux, Amy Brenneman, Christopher Eccleston, Liv Tyler, Chris Zylka, and Margaret Qualley is due to hit Blu-ray on October 10. No other details have been announced at this time.
Ken Hughes' Night School starring Rachel Ward, Leonard Mann, and Drew Snyder will arrive on October 24. The disc will be sourced from a 2017 4K Scan from the original camera negative, and supplements will include a Theatrical Trailer.
Frank Tuttle's Hell on Frisco Bay starring Alan Ladd, Joanne Dru, and William Demarest is also coming to Blu-ray on October 24. Supplements will include a Theatrical Trailer.
Jerry Schatzberg's Scarecrow starring Gene Hackman, Al Pacino, and Ann Wedgeworth will be released on October 31. The disc will feature a new 2017 1080p HD master and supplements will include:
- Vintage Featurette On the Road with Scarecrow
- Theatrical Trailer
As previously reported, ClassicFlix is prepping Alfred L. Werker and Anthony Mann's He Walked By Night: Special Edition for Blu-ray on October 31, and newly announced supplements will include:
- Audio Commentary by biographer and producer Alan K. Rode & writer and film historian Julie Kirgo
- Below the Surface: He Walked by Night - Featurette with cinematographer Richard Crudo, film critic & author Todd McCarthy, writer and film historian Julie Kirgo, film historian & director Courtney Joyner and biographer & producer Alan K. Rode
- Image gallery with rare stills and posters
- A 24 page booklet with an essay by author Max Alvarez (The Crime Films of Anthony Mann) featuring stills, posters and other production material
Cohen Media Group is bringing Pappi Corsicato's documentary Julian Schnabel: A Private Portrait to Blu-ray on November 7. No other details have been announced at this time.
Cinema Guild is preparing Patrick Shen's documentary In Pursuit of Silence for Blu-ray on November 7. Supplements will include:
- Deleted Scenes
- Featurettes
- Theatrical Trailers
Lionsgate is set to release Giancarlo Esposito's The Show starring James Franco, Famke Janssen, Josh Duhamel, Sarah Wayne Callies, Caitlin FitzGerald, and Giancarlo Esposito on Blu-ray on November 7. Supplements will include:
- Making THE SHOW
- Cast and Crew Interviews
- Trailer Gallery
In addition, the studio will bring Ben Safdie and Joshua Safdie's Good Time starring Robert Pattinson, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Barkhad Abdi, Ben Safdie, and Marcos A. Gonzalez to Blu-ray on November 21. Supplements will include:
- "The Pure and the Damned: Good Time" Featurette
- Audio Commentary with directors Josh and Benny Safdie, producer Sebastian Bear-McClard, and actors Taliah Lennice Webster and Buddy Duress
- Music Video
Likewise, the label is prepping Mark Palansky's Rememory starring Peter Dinklage, Julia Ormond, and Anton Yelchin for Blu-ray on November 28. Supplements will include:
- Audio Commentary with Writer-Director Mark Palansky and Actor Peter Dinklage
- The Memories We Keep (Featurette)
Finally, Blue Underground has announced plans to bring Bob Clark's Deathdream: Collector's Edition starring John Marley, Lynn Carlin, Richard Backus, Henderson Forsythe, and Anya Ormsby to Blu-ray on November 28. The limited edition release will feature a 2K restoration of the film from the 35mm original camera negative, reversible "Dead of Night" artwork, and special packaging. Supplements will include:
- NEW A Recollection With Star Anya Liffey and Writer/Make-Up Artist Alan Ormsby
- NEW Notes For A Homecoming – Interview with Composer Carl Zittrer
