Warner Premiere and DC Comics will debut their first next-gen title
this February, with the release of 'Justice League: The New Frontier' on Blu-ray
and HD DVD.
Featuring the voices of Neil Patrick Harris, David Boreanaz and Brooke Shields, the direct-to-video
'Justice League: The New Frontier' brings together Superman, Batman and Wonder
Woman and a host of other DC Comics heroes in a tale that the explores the origins
of legendary superteam. Marking the first high-definition release from DC Comics,
Warner Premiere will debut 'The New Frontier' on Blu-ray and HD DVD day-and-date with the standard DVD on February 26, 2008.
All versions will share an extensive array of supplemental features, including
two audio commentaries with the filmmakers (participants TBA), the documentaries
"The Legion of Doom: The Pathology of the Super Villain" and "Comic
Book Commentary: Homage to the New Frontier," a "Super Heroes United!:
The Complete Justice League History," a special sneak peek at the upcoming
"Batman: Gotham Knight" direct-to-video premiere, and three bonus
episodes of the 'Justice League Unlimited' series ("Dark Heart," "To
Another Shore" and "Task Force X").
Tech specs announced thus far for the next-gen versions include 1080p video
and audio in Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround. However, Warner has not confirmed final
audio configurations, so we'll keep you posted if they add any high-res formats
to the mix.
Suggested retail for the Blu-ray and HD DVD is $34.95 a pop.
