"You're a murderer" in this "grand finale for Hotline Miami."
The follow-up to 'Hotline Miami' made its appearance at E3, but Devolver Digital has now come forward with a teaser trailer. The first game's mixture of extreme 80's lucidity and questionably directed killing-for-hire is getting some surprising adjustment and expansion in the sequel.
Taking place a few years after the first game, 'Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number' will feature multiple playable characters, who see the games world devovling with multiple factions fighting it out.
From the Devolver Digital's Dennis Wedin, "Some people saw the first game as a horror movie - [Jacket] was mentally ill, he was a psychopath. We wanted to, in a way, let someone else do his own version of it. The director gives enough twists to it and made it into this slasher B-movie that some people saw it as."
The new game introduces a faction called "The Fans," This faction emulates the actions and mask-wearing from the first game. "They kind of symbolize people that want Hotline Miami 2 to be exactly like Hotline Miami 1.
"They have the masks and the phonecalls. It's pretty much the same. We tried ... to give the characters different motivations to why they kill. They're hardcore fans who take it too far."
'Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number' is being developed for the PC, Mac, and Linux, and is expected later this year.
