Three films from Paolo and Vittorio Taviani will be getting the Blu-ray treatment later this year.
In an early announcement to retailers, Cohen Film Collection will be releasing 'The Taviani Collection' on Blu-ray sometime later this year.
Padre Padrone - Follows the story of young, barely literate shepherd boy Gavino who lives under the thumb of his tyrannical peasant father. He is ultimately rescued from his family and his isolated lifestyle by a call to military service, eventually emerging as a brilliant linguist and scholar. Based on the book by Gavino Ledda. Starring Omero Antonutti, Saverio Marconi, Marcella Michelangeli, Stanko Molnar, and Nanni Moretti. NEW 2K RESTORATION.
Night of the Shooting Stars - It is the Night of San Lorenzo, the night when dreams come true. While watching shooting stars, Cecilia tells her son about a similar night in 1944, when she was six years old and the residents of San Martino, her small Tuscan town, defied their Nazi occupiers. Starring Omero Antonutti, Margarita Lozano, and Claudio Bigagli. NEW 2K RESTORATION.
Kaos - Magic, drama, misery, and hope are given life in five tales adapted from Luigi Pirandello's Novelle per un anno. With a strong, poetic vision of Sicilian life, directors Paolo and Vittorio Taviani imbue this epic masterpiece with a serene, sympathetic revelation of mankind that transcends the boundaries of time. Starring Margarita Lozano, Orazio Torrisi, and Carlo Cartier. NEW 2K RESTORATION.
