A study by XBLA Fans has revealed a disappointing trend in Xbox Live Arcade Games.
The Xbox Live Arcade is a great source of inexpensive but awesome games. You can get ahold of titles like 'Bastion,' 'Castle Crashers,' and 'Braid' along with classics like the newly released 'Simpsons Arcade Game' without having to shell out the $60 a new retail game would cost.
According to the website XBLA Fans, however, the Live Arcade has been slowly getting worse. Prices are going up, while game quality has been decreasing. Take the yearly Summer of Arcade for example. In 2008 we got 'Braid,' 'Castle Crashers,' and 'Bionic Commando: Rearmed,' along with a few other titles. The average Metacritic score came out to 84.8 and the average price was 960.
Compare that to 2011, which had the lowest average Metacritic score at 78.8. It also had the second highest price average, at 1120.
Obviously, there's a lot more to consider than that number, but you can read the rest in a four part series over at XBLA Fans.
