The TARDIS has arrived on BritBox.
BritBox has announced the addition of classic Doctor Who to its streaming lineup. The SVOD service is now the exclusive US streaming home to nearly all of the surviving 1963 - 1989 Doctor Who episodes. In addition, the platform continues to offer an extensive digital catalogue of British content through an ad-free subscription plan.
Covering the adventures of the first seven doctors, the catalog features all of the surviving complete serials from the classic era, but does not include serials with missing episodes or the recently reconstructed The Power of the Daleks. With that said, the service does eventually plan to add audio versions of missing episodes. Likewise, the catalog also includes extra Doctor Who related programs like the recent TV move, An Adventure in Space and Time.
Beyond the new addition of classic Doctor Who, BritBox includes streaming access to several drama premieres never-before-seen in the US, including New Blood, Tutankhamun, The Moonstone, and In The Dark, along with season premieres of drama favorites like Cold Feet and Silent Witness. In addition, the platform's "Now" category features a collection of soaps and shows that will be available as soon as 24 hours after their UK broadcast, including titles like Eastenders, Emmerdale, and Holby City. Likewise, the service also offers a library of British classics like Brideshead Revisited, Pride and Prejudice, Upstairs Downstairs, State of Play, Inspector Morse, Rosemary and Thyme, Keeping Up Appearances, Fawlty Towers and more. Finally, BritBox includes curated playlists of content as well, including "Best of British Comedy," "Iconic Detectives," "Literary Adaptations," and "Very British Beginnings" -- which spotlights actors such as Daniel Craig and Emily Blunt early in their careers.
BritBox is now available in the US for $6.99 per month through the web, Apple TV, Roku, iPhone, iPad, and Android mobile phones and tablets. New users can also receive an introductory 7-day free trial.
