Golf fans will be able to catch the Masters on two live 4K Ultra HD channels.
AT&T has announced plans to broadcast the 2017 Masters Tournament in Ultra HD through DirecTV. And expanding upon last year's coverage, this year the satellite service will offer two live 4K Ultra HD channels for the event.
"We're expanding DIRECTV's live 4K coverage of the Masters Tournament this year," said Dan York, chief content officer, AT&T Entertainment Group. "With our 4K broadcast, we want TV viewers to have that visceral experience of sitting just behind the ropes or watching as a patron at Amen Corner. It’s a trip well worth taking."
DirecTV subscribers with the necessary equipment and TV package will be able to tune into two channels of live 4K Masters coverage produced by CBS. Channel 105 will feature Amen Corner and channel 106 will broadcast all of the action on holes 15 (Firethorn) and 16 (Redbud). Live Ultra HD coverage will include all four rounds of the tournament from April 6-9.
Here's a rundown of requirements for live DirecTV 4K Ultra HD viewing:
- A Genie HD DVR (model HR54 or later)
- A DIRECTV 4K Ready TV, or a 4K TV connected to a 4K Genie Mini. Additional & advanced receiver fees apply.
- DIRECTV SELECT package or higher, 4K account authorization and a professional installation. For more on getting 4K UHD ready, visit directv.com/4k or call (800) DIRECTV.
In addition to the 2017 Masters, AT&T and DirecTV also recently announced plans to broadcast up to 25 MLB Network Showcase games in 4K Ultra HD. The year's first UHD game was broadcast on April 4, and featured the World Champion Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals.
