Sony’s LX900 series is priced dead even with Samsung’s 7000s. The HX series gets you 3D TV ready on the cheap, sort of.
If you’re looking for 3D right out of the box, Sony’s LX900 series will do it. It comes with two pairs of active shutter glasses and the requisite 3D emitter. It’s also got head tracking technology to keep that 3D looking nice, and a lot of nice throw-ins like integrated WiFi, an edge lit display, and DNLA compliance. At 46 inches, you’re looking at an MSRP of $2,449.
The HX800 is the cheapest of Sony’s new 3D capable TVs. It’s got an ambient light sensor to adjust color and brightness, and edge backlighting. It’s got access to all those Bravia widgets, though there’s no WiFi included. It’s got an MSRP of $1,999 for that same 46” size, but if you’re looking to go 3D, you’ll be spending another $320 or so for the adapter and glasses.
Sony’s HX900 series is incredibly slick. Instead of the edge lighting seen in the other sets, the HX900 sports local dimming. It’s equipped with Bravia Engine 3 video processing, 24p film playback, and a 6 degree upward tilt for “natural viewing.” You’ll be able to pick it up at the same $2,499 as the LX900, but you’ll still have to pick up a 3D adapter and glasses.
