A firmware update coming this fall will enable 3-D video in several of Harman Kardon's receivers.
3-D fans have got to appreciate the amount of support the format is getting in firmware updates. We've heard plenty about the PS3 and a few other Blu-ray players getting 3-D updates, but this time, Harman Kardon is adding support to their receivers.
While Harman says that not all receivers are able to be updated, if you've got the AVR 2600, AVR 3600 or AVR 7550HD, you're in luck. As HK puts it, "New software and compliance testing is all that is needed."
The receivers will start shipping with HDMI 1.4 compatibility in September, which is when the firmware update will be available from Harman Kardon directly.
